Details: At the age of thirteen, my first boss pointed out cigarette butts and the tiniest little weeds I hadn’t picked up, and then let me know his definition of when I would be finished.

Integrity: A master mason and friend to the family showed me how much soil moves and on it everything else, and then how to prepare before building.

Equal opportunity: My first employer in construction hired me without references as he did with everyone, regardless of what each person had to say for them self. Some people stayed, some were let go.

Efficiency: A track framing contractor who took me on, taught me how to carry and assemble everything on my own so I could keep up with teams of two.
